She completed both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Nutrition Science from East Carolina University in North Carolina while working on a federally-funded government nutrition program. Upon completion of her thesis work, Deidra moved to Phoenix and shifted her career focus to behavioral modification in dietary practice. With the understanding that eating is a learned behavior, it became a personal endeavor to facilitate individuals’ discovery of how to slowly make changes toward their healthiest food-related lifestyle — a process that encompasses identifying lifelong dietary habits, processing thoughts and beliefs around food practices, and creating dietary recommendations that utilize the meal plan and exchange system approach to healthy eating.
Deidra is an active member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and registered as a practicing dietitian in the state of Arizona through the Commission on Dietetic Registration. In her spare time, she enjoys practicing yoga, reading, and spending time with family and friends.
“I believe that food should be centered around health, culture, and happiness– but more importantly following the fundamentals of balancing life and moderation of energy needs. There are times in your life when your dietary needs shift due to aging, health goals, emotions, or stress and I am here to counsel and help with individual needs through all stages of life.”
